| State Capitol at West End of Third Street |
|
A view of Third Street looking West with the Nebraska State Capitol at the end of the street. Trouble is, Grand Island has never been the State Capitol. This fantasy view was created as part of an effort to move the State Capitol to Grand Island. The decision had been made to move it from Omaha (the original Territorial Capitol) to a more central location in the State. Lincoln won, but this photo shows that Grand Island was certainly trying.
